Franc Berneker: Exhibition on the 150th anniversary of his birth

Franc Berneker (1874-1932), a pioneer of modern Slovenian sculpture, was considered an exceptionally talented artist even in his own time. As a companion of the Impressionist painters, he made a significant contribution to the development of modern Slovenian art. His works, which moved away from academicism and incorporated contemporary artistic currents, paved the way for 20th century modernist sculpture in Slovenia. Among the most important is the monument to Trubar, the pinnacle of early modernism in Slovenia. The exhibition will feature works from various galleries, including the National Gallery, reflecting the international influences of artists such as Rodin and Meunier.
