FEST MEST

SLOVENIA’S LONGEST FESTIVAL

FEST MEST is a festival celebrating the vibrant pulse of 21 historical towns. Take a look at the programme of event highlights that take place from spring to late summer in the historical town centres. We have selected the best events, shows, exhibitions, concerts and outdoor performances. Choose your historical town and experience contemporary Slovenian creativity in thousand-year-old venues.

FEST MEST spring-summer 2024

From April to August, internationally renowned musicians, dancers, theatre ensembles and visual artists connect 21 of Slovenia’s most beautiful cultural heritage venues. Check out the programme, choose your favourite concert, exhibition or performance and explore the historic town hosting the event.

FESTMEST CONCERTS

In castles, churches and monasteries, concerts sound different – timeless. In summer, renowned and talented musicians often fill castle courtyards and gardens with their music. Treat yourself to a concert journey through historical towns. Choose your favourite concert – from classical to popular music.

FESTMEST PERFORMANCES

Historical towns are platforms of heritage and contemporary times. Theatre, dance and film venues in town centres link them both. Slovenian theatre productions are among the best in Europe and the world, so make sure you circle them on your Fest Mest calendar. Combine a trip to a historic town with a visit to a play.

FESTMEST EXHIBITIONSS

Visit the spring and summer exhibitions, which ask provocative questions and reflect on alternative futures. We have selected some of the contemporary art exhibitions and biennial events that put Slovenia and its historical towns at the heart of European creativity.

20 REASONS TO EXPERIENCE HISTORICAL TOWNS

As the longest festival in Slovenia, FEST MEST adds festive days to your calendar and offers you an opportunity to visit the best concerts, exhibitions or performances in historical towns – alone or with your loved ones. It will give you the chance to experience the town squares, streets and their ancient stories in a new and creative way.

Check out the programme and choose your favourite FEST MEST highlights.
