Haloze layer cake

Haloze layer cake is a traditional savoury or sweet dish that can be found in Ptuj. It is made from leavened dough and stuffed with cottage cheese, often enriched with raisins, walnuts or cinnamon, and traditionally baked in a wood-fired oven. It is at its best when still warm and pairs perfectly with Ptuj’s fine white wines.
